Trademark Registration and ISO Certification
Registering the brand so it is yours, and certifying the system so buyers and tender boards take you seriously.
Trademark registration in the UAE
A trade name on your licence is not a trademark. It stops another company registering the same name in the same activity — it does not stop anyone using your brand on their products or opening a shop with your name in a different emirate.
Registration is through the Ministry of Economy, class by class, for ten years and renewable.
- Search. We check the register for conflicts before you spend anything. This is the step people skip and regret.
- Class selection. Nice classification, chosen to cover what you actually sell and what you plan to sell.
- Filing. Application lodged with the Ministry of Economy.
- Publication. Published in the official gazette and two local newspapers, with an opposition window.
- Registration. Certificate issued, valid ten years.
Also handled
- GCC and international filings through the Madrid Protocol
- Copyright registration
- Trademark renewal, assignment and licensing
- Opposition and infringement support
ISO certification
ISO certification is worth having when it opens a door — a tender that requires it, a client whose procurement policy demands it, or a process genuinely worth fixing. We will tell you if it will not do any of those things for you.
ISO 9001
Quality management. The one most tenders ask for.
ISO 14001
Environmental management. Increasingly required on government and construction work.
ISO 45001
Occupational health and safety. Common in contracting and industry.
ISO 27001
Information security. Expected of technology and data businesses.
ISO 22000 / HACCP
Food safety, for catering, manufacturing and hospitality.
Other standards
Energy, business continuity, anti-bribery and sector schemes.
How ISO runs
- Gap analysis against the standard.
- Documentation. We build the manual, procedures and records.
- Implementation and training for the people who have to live with it.
- Internal audit and management review.
- Certification audit by an accredited body.
- Surveillance audits annually to keep it valid.

Questions We Get Asked
Is my trade name already a trademark?
No. A trade name stops another company registering the same name in the same activity. It does not stop anyone using your brand on their products or opening a shop with your name in another emirate.
How long does a UAE trademark last?
Ten years from registration, renewable. It is filed class by class through the Ministry of Economy.
How many classes do I need?
As many as cover what you actually sell and realistically plan to sell. Filing too narrowly is the common mistake, and widening it later means a fresh application.
Can I protect the brand outside the UAE?
Yes — GCC filings and international registration through the Madrid Protocol. We handle both.
Which ISO standard do tenders usually ask for?
ISO 9001 most often. ISO 14001 increasingly appears on government and construction work, ISO 45001 in contracting and industry, and ISO 27001 for technology and data businesses.
Is ISO certification worth it?
Only if it opens a door — a tender that requires it, a client whose procurement policy demands it, or a process genuinely worth fixing. If it will not do any of those, we will say so.
